What is the purpose of the registry?

For our patients, the Center for Clinical Research at WMed provides access to cutting-edge clinical trials in a variety of therapeutic areas. Deciding to participate in a clinical trial can be both intimidating and rewarding. Our experienced staff of health professionals are here to answer questions regarding participation in clinical trials, your rights as a patient, and the benefits and risks of participating in research as well as to guide patients through the process of contributing to the advancement of medicine. WMed administers clinical trials at various locations including Beacon Kalamazoo, Bronson Hospital Group, and WMed Health.

Everyone.

What is involved in participation?

This is a patient registry that helps us match interested participants with research opportunities.  The registry is voluntary, confidential, and at no cost to you.

Women Undergoing Perimenopause

What is the purpose of the study? 

The purpose of the study is to find out whether hormonal changes in mid-life women act on the immune system to trigger depression. If we find that they do, we may be able to develop risk markers that can be measured in blood samples to tell who is at risk for depression during perimenopause. 

Who can participate?
  • Women ages 40-55 who are undergoing perimenopause.
  • Experiencing different degrees of depressive symptoms, or no depression at all.
  • Other criteria may apply.
What is involved in participation?
  • This study is voluntary, confidential, and no cost.
  • You will be asked to come to 1 or 2 research visits.
  • The visits will take around 1-1.5 hours and include physical and mental health questionnaires and a blood sample.
  • You will receive a $100 store/debit card at the completion of each of the visits.

Pediatric Insomnia

What is the purpose of the study?

The purpose of this research study is to investigate a potential treatment to help improve nighttime sleep in children with insomnia

Who can participate? 
  • Male or female between 2 and 17 years old
  • Diagnosis of insomnia
  • Other criteria may apply
What is involved in participation?

This study is voluntary, confidential, and at no cost.

  • You may receive up to $675 for participation.
  • You will be asked to complete questionnaires.
  • You will be asked about health and medication history.
  • Over the course of 13 months, you will be asked to come to 5 in-person visits and participate in 7 telephone visits.
